The Corporate and Regulatory Affairs team at BAT plays a crucial role in ensuring our business remains responsive to global regulations, ethical standards, and societal expectations.

We are looking for a dynamic Engagement Manager to join our team and drive meaningful change.


As an Engagement Manager within the Corporate and Regulatory Affairs team at BAT, you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of our industry.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to lead and manage our external engagement initiatives, fostering relationships with key stakeholders and regulators.

Your contributions will be instrumental in ensuring that BAT continues to operate at the highest standards of corporate responsibility and compliance.

You will lead responsibility for business objectives and execution of BATAs _A Better Tomorrow _externally facing development opportunities. Supporting current campaign objectives in new category transition and anti-illicit trade measures through high-level support. Preparation support for local and regional reporting processes.

Key accountabilities

  • Monitor State and Territory regulatory changes in respect of Excise, Tobacco Control and ESG policy evolution as it relates to BATAs corporate objectives.
  • Drive strategic opportunities for BATA to convey the changing nature of its business to external stakeholders with key focus on the _A Better Tomorrow _principles.
  • Support the Corporate and Regulatory Affairs (CORA) team to deliver key milestones on priority campaigns.
  • Work cross functionally with in the business and CORA team to appraise key stakeholders of proposed restrictions, prioritisation for action and key progress updates.
  • Support the Government Affairs team to deliver key milestones on priority campaigns.
  • Work cross functionally with in the business and CAGA team to appraise key stakeholders of proposed restrictions, prioritisation for action and key progress updates.

Critical Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • 6 to 8 years' experience in political, media and corporate affairs issues
  • Deep political and public service relationships and andepth understanding of government and regulatory affairs
  • Experience dealing with stakeholders on controversial and complex issues
  • Highly developed communication skills both written, oral and interpersonal, as well as an ability to influence, persuade and present to diverse audiences
  • Strong engagement skills, highly developed negotiation, influencing and relationship building skills with an ability to work well with peers and senior management as well as external stakeholders
  • Advanced Microsoft Office capabilities with particular focus on
    PowerPoint and presentation building.
