ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting into the Chief Football Officer, this Sydney based role is responsible for managing and leading a consistent national approach to entry level coaching, with the aim to recruit and retain more coaches to support the anticipated influx of Women & Girls into the game.

This is an integral role in ensuring that Football Australia's community coach sector and the programs in which they deliver are well resourced, informative, and adaptable to its target audience, with a particular focus on inclusion for women and girls.


Through the support of CommBank, the Community Technical Lead will develop strategies to overcome barriers of entry level coaching, with focus on research, resource creation, training opportunities and events, female coaching networks and local club support in order to increase the number of grassroots coaches within Australia.

Please note that this role is fixed term until December 2024.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Research and overcome barriers for coach engagement of time, lack of knowledge, skills and experience with training and support opportunities
  • To develop accessible, bitsize engaging resources, modules, coach series and more that combat the barriers for community club coaching
  • Create online live and prerecorded workshops, seminars, and events to feature on the Football Australia Coach Hub
  • To provide leadership and support to entry level state coaching initiatives in the forms of coaching training events, upskilling and learning opportunities and mentorship, with particular focus on female attendance and engagement
  • To be a technical consultant in grassroots program resources and sessions, with focus on the national grassroots participation products
  • To support the development, growth and engagement of grassroots coaching within the state women's network

ABOUT YOU

Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum 3 years' experience in a management position
  • Completed tertiary qualifications in sport management/administration or a related area of study
  • Demonstrative knowledge in coach development, education and training
  • Experience in resource creation in terms of football theories and principles applied into session format is highly desirable
  • Sound understanding of local community club committees, organisational structures and operations
  • Understanding of current barriers for involvement of community coaches, workforces and volunteers within grassroots clubs
  • Management of Women & Girls community sport projects highly desirable
