About You

  • You have degree qualifications in Health Information Management or extensive experience in health records management.
  • You have extensive knowledge of legislation and NSW Health Policy in response to release of health information.
  • You have demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to complete tasks within defined time frames and proven capacity to manage concurrent activities of a diverse nature under limited supervision.

What You'll Be Doing


The Health Information Officer - Medico Legal/Release of Information is responsible for the day to day supervision of a team of staff who undertake the release of clinical patient information to external stakeholders.

The position provides leadership to HIS Medico Legal/Release of Information staff and external stakeholders to deliver and analyse complex medico legal and release of information requests.

The position works with confidential information and requires a high level of knowledge and commitment to current privacy laws and legislation to guard against loss, misuse and inappropriate or unauthorised access or disclosure.

The position requires a knowledge of the legal system and the role of Medico Legal/Release of Information requests in this context.

This position supports the Manager, Health Information Services Gosford by undertaking a range of duties such as staff supervision; training; revenue and debtor management; drafting high level legal correspondence; release of information audit, review, and feedback; procedure development; report writing and liaising with other hospital staff.
