  • Oversee the postgraduate medical education and training program at Launceston General Hospital (LGH) to ensure compliance with Australian Medical Council (AMC) requirements through the Postgraduate Medical Education Council of Tasmania (PMCT), involving collaboration with specialist colleges and the University of Tasmania.
  • Offer guidance and assistance to junior medical staff at Launceston General Hospital
  • Conduct training and educational sessions adhering to Accreditation Standards
  • Collaborate with the Post Graduate Medical Education Council of Tasmania to establish a supportive environment and career path for junior doctors

Appointment Details

This is a fixed-term, part-time position for day workers, requiring 36 hours per fortnight, starting at the earliest convenience until April 1, 2027.

*Negotiable working hours with the successful candidate

  • For a 12-month period from publication, this selection process may be used to fill future full-time and part-time positions.

Visiting Medical Practitioners

Visiting Medical Practitioners Level 1- Visiting Medical Specialists Level 4 receive $254,149 to $445,341 annually, proportionate + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging

  • The salary range is aligned with the Tasmanian Visiting Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Agreement 2019

Successful candidates must meet the following key criteria:

  • Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty
  • *Mandatory registration/licenses for this role must be current and valid throughout employment, subject to periodic verification. It is the employee's responsibility to ensure the ongoing validity of these registrations/licenses and to promptly update the Employer of any changes in status.

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Educational/medical education qualification

The Head of the State Service requires the nominated individual for this position to undergo pre-employment screening prior to starting, promotion, or transfer. The screening encompasses:

  • Background checks for:
  • violent crimes
  • sex-related offenses
  • serious drug offenses
  • dishonesty-related crimes
  • Review of previous employment disciplinary actions
