A bit about the role


As a Front of House Officer in our Arts, Events and Cultural Venues Department, you will be a key player in providing exceptional hospitality customer service and creating a positive experience for all patrons attending performances, functions, and events at Wyndham City's Cultural Venues.


As this is a customer-facing role, you will interact confidently and professionally with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures.

The position requires flexibility in scheduling, including availability to work business hours, evenings and weekends.

What you'll do

  • Support the Functions Supervisor and Front of House team to undertake hospitality service duties at the venues
  • Assume the role of Supervisor when scheduled, serving as the primary point of contact for our clients, and taking charge of ensuring the safe and efficient execution of the event
  • As required, Supervise staff during their shifts to ensure they are fulfilling their duties in an efficient and effective manner, providing guidance and support as needed
  • Perform a range of hospitality tasks, such as food and beverage service, customer service in various catering formats, venue upkeep and cleanliness, stock management, and handling cashless transactions for food and beverage sales
  • Adhere to Cultural Venues service standards and procedures to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for patrons and staff
  • Provide exceptional customer service by maintaining a positive attitude, actively listen to customer's needs, and resolving issues efficiently and effectively
  • Assist with the setup and pack down of furniture and equipment in accordance with event requirements
  • Comply with responsible service of alcohol (RSA) principles to ensure the responsible consumption of alcohol by patrons
  • Ensure that all Council OH&S requirements are met including reporting any hazards or incidents through to the Functions Supervisor
  • Actively assist as a Fire Warden in the event of an emergency evacuation at the venue (Fire Warden training will be provided)

What you'll bring

  • Demonstrated experience in front of house hospitality services at function & events centres
  • Demonstrated experience working at banquet style events (desirable)
  • Demonstrated experience in front of house operations and supervision
  • Current Responsible Service of Alcohol
  • Current Food Handling Certificate (desirable)
  • Postsecondary qualifications in hospitality services (desirable)
  • A current First Aid Level 2 Certificate (desirable)
  • Good understanding of occupational Health and Safety and Risk Management provisions related to venue operations
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a positive, proactive, and flexible attitude
