Purpose of the position:


The Civil Manager is responsible for managing and completing projects allocated by the Operations Manager, in a safe, efficient, timely and cost-effective manner through the diligent management of people, subcontractors and resources.


The Civil Manager actively provides leadership and guidance to construction crews, as well as coordinating day to day operations, manage budget, planning and scheduling of work.


The role includes:

  • Working on and managing a range of civil, demolition and environmental remediation projects
  • All questions from staff and client contacts will be handled by the Civil Manager in conjunction with the Project Manager
  • Following instructions from Operations Manager, General Manager and working alongside Senior Project Managers
  • Leading a team of safety focused people and managing operational resources (including subcontractors)
  • Working independently and making decision with the company's best interest in mind
  • Ensuring compliance to safety, quality, environmental, business and client standards
  • Delivery of work across multiple project sites
  • Continual assessment of site works as required

he key responsibilities:

  • Work on and manage the company civil and remediation projects as directed
  • Be the first point of contact for the staff working on the projects under their management
  • Liaise with subcontractors as needed
  • Implement and ensure compliance to EHSQ Policies and Procedures as directed by the company
  • Indepth understanding of project scope, specifications and construction drawings
  • Assist with break down of tenders, working closely with Senior Project Managers as required
  • Communicating clear directions to onsite supervisors and staff
  • Management of multiple projects at once
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of contracts
  • Ability to operate machinery if needed
  • Work within time constraints and budget boundaries
  • Working closely with Upper Management to achieve project outcomes
  • An understanding of all onsite plant and equipment
  • Sound knowledge of the contract, specification, and Scope of Work
  • Strong technical knowledge of the Civil Construction processes
  • Proven ability to monitor productivity and drive the staff through delivery
  • Ability to read and review construction drawings and plans
  • Someone who will take a handson approach
  • Will be required to travel regional and interstate
  • Must be prepared to work flexible hours, including after hours, to meet business requirements
