O'rourke Racing

O'Rourke Racing are looking for a stable foreperson to join our team at Hawkesbury.

Prior experience managing a stable is required, and experience handling young horses a must. Applicants with experience in riding timed trackwork and yearling would be very strongly considered for the role.

Remuneration will be generously above award, reflective of the individual's level of experience.

The successful applicant will be a competent horseperson, have the ability to form and maintain strong working relationships and demonstrate strong leadership qualities.

We are looking for someone who learns quickly, is reliable and steady in nature, and is passionate about the racing industry.

The role involves, but is not limited to;

• Recording and maintaining horse records in accordance with the rules of racing
• Work with vets to manage the ongoing welfare of horses;
• Represent the stable at barrier trials and race days saddle up as required.
• Take horses to the races when required.
• Management and delivery of the daily work specified by the trainer for each horse. I.e. ensure the horses are tacked up with correct gear, assist riders on and off their mounts, converse with riders and report back to trainer if there are concerns.
• Coordinate the maintenance of stable equipment
• Liaise with owners when required
• Management and coordination of stable staff
• Coordinate the completion of daily stable tasks/ animal husbandry
• Educating new employees as required
