Energy Queensland is the group of electricity distribution, retail, and energy services businesses 100% owned by the state of Queensland. About your new role:

The Principal Security Advisor (Operations) leads the business in the development of physical security standards for people, network and non-network assets, and ensures security operations are delivered in accordance with internal stakeholder expectations. The position leads the security operations team encompassing the security monitoring centre and all security incident related activities. The role will also be required to support the business for any security related emergency management and business continuity planning activities.

The role oversees the development and implementation of strategies, frameworks, policies and practices associated with security operations and the provision of expert advice and direction to senior management and the business. This role is the principal expert in the Group responsible for these functions.

So, what does that look like when you're in the role?

Each day is different in this dynamic role. You'll be conducting work to protect and maintain physical and protective security of Energy Queensland property. You will security incident management procedures relating to break ins and security risks to ensure effective controls are in place. You will be liaising with internal and external stakeholders to resolve security issues and create strategies to improve security. You will also complete the tactical execution of security uplifts for the business.

The position has been evaluated as Professional & Managerial Grade Three (PM3). The level of payment will be subject to an assessment of the successful applicant's knowledge, skills and competencies that are required in this position. Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Energy Queensland Union Collective Agreement 2020.

About you:

You have extensive senior level experience in security, business continuity and emergency management in a physical/protective security operational environment. You are an excellent communicator, using your interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong relationships with a range of stakeholders. In addition we are looking for:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading security incident management procedures within a large organisation, liaising with a range of stakeholders to address associated risks.
  • Experience working in a protective security room operations environment is highly desirable.
  • Proven high level skills and extensive experience in leadership, organisational change and systems management relating to security and risk management.
  • It is desirable to have experience designing and implementing security equipment installations and supporting operational procedures across a multi-site organisation.
  • Contemporary knowledge of current security standards, legislation and corporate responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework in which the energy industry operates in Australia or the ability to gain in-depth knowledge rapidly.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing business continuity and emergency management policy, processes and procedures for a large multi-site organisation.
