An exciting opportunity exists for a highly skilled clinician-researcher to join Austin Health and the Olivia Newton John Cancer Research Institute (ONJCRI), as a jointly appointed ONJCRI Clinical Laboratory Head, and consultant with the Department of Clinical Haematology.

About the role:

***- Hours per week: full-time (40 hours per week), with 0.7 full-time equivalent (FTE) as ONJCRI Clinical Laboratory Head, and 0.3 FTE Austin Health Clinical Haematologist

  • Fixed responsibilities: Two clinics a week in malignant haematology, plus ward service (number of weeks prorated to EFT)
  • Appointment period: Fixed term (5 years, with formal review with both managers at 3 years) To be successful for this role you must:
  • Be a registered Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Hold a Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians or equivalent
  • Have appropriate training and experience applicable to the field of Clinical Haematology o A scope of practice encompassing allogeneic stem cell transplantation is essential
  • Demonstrate a commitment to high quality patient care
  • Demonstrate a commitment to working as a team member with peer medical, junior medical, nursing and other clinical staff to provide efficient, safe and quality care across the continuum, and
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teaching, training and research.
  • Fulfill the criteria outlined in the corresponding Position Description for the ONJCRI Clinical Laboratory Head.
  • Have experience in the following areas:
  • Management of acute leukaemias and myeloid malignancies
  • Clinical trials practice
