Biophysical Analyst

About the company:
Based in the north of Sydney, this well-known government contract testing laboratory is responsible for the development and maintenance of Australia's peak physical measurement standards specifically biological measurements.
About the role:
The Biophysical Analyst will use HPLC and LC-MS for the analyses of RNA and DNA and is integral in developing standards for biotherapeutics, diagnostics, food and environmental applications. It is a full-time contract role for 12 months.

Responsibilities include:

• Operate and maintain instruments - HPLC, LC-MS & oligonucleotide synthesiser.
• Ensure scientific equipment is maintained in working order and calibrated when required.
• Perform analysis for all sample types and methods
• Carry out genetic analyses for projects as needed including analysis of human blood.
• Ensure adequate supplies of reagents and materials are available

Skills & experience:

• Tertiary qualifications in Chemistry or equivalent relevant experience
• Experience with instrumental analysis of chemicals and biochemicals
• Experience in the use of computer-based data management systems
• Understanding of Quality Assurance and Quality Systems principles and practices.
• Good organisational and communication skills
• Ability to work co-operatively and effectively in a team environment
• Full vaccination and willingness to get Hepatitis B vaccine essential
