The Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA) is responsible for managing Victoria's fisheries resources in a sustainable manner, supporting commercial, recreational, aquaculture, and Indigenous fishing sectors.

We collaborate with stakeholders to maximize the social, cultural, and economic benefits of Victoria's fisheries and aquaculture industries, promoting sustainable practices.

The VFA focuses on promoting sustainable recreational and commercial fishing and aquaculture activities, as well as enhancing recreational fishing and boating facilities.

Our goal is to encourage more people to engage in fishing, enhance boating safety, and make local seafood easily accessible to all.

Our role involves ensuring that the government, fishing sector, and community benefit from careful management to meet future demand sustainably.



FISHERIES OFFICER (MULTIPLE ROLES)
12 months Fixed term
Location: Tatura, Bendigo, and Swan Hill

The Role:
  • Three designated roles for female applicants.
  • Responsibilities include implementing Fisheries strategies, programs, and services within the operational area and state-wide projects.
  • Support compliance operations under the Supervising Fisheries Officer.
  • Contribute to fisheries compliance and public safety.
  • Offer support and advice to the Supervising Fisheries Officer.

The Team:
  • VFA is a statutory authority focused on managing Victoria's fisheries sustainably for the benefit of the government, fishing sectors, and the community.
  • With around 190 employees across various locations in Victoria.

About You:
  • Demonstrated leadership and operational effectiveness.
  • Team player with professionalism.
  • Water safety competency and a current driver's license required.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Committed to child safety standards and undergo a National Police Records Check.
