Jacobs Power Solutions team plays a pivotal role in the energy transformation by supporting our key clients in their endeavors to minimize carbon emissions and achieve NetZero. The team collaborates with clients to assist in their projects, conduct feasibility studies, carry out detailed power system studies, and provide asset management and future network planning. We are actively engaged in shaping the energy landscape by contributing to some of the most iconic projects in Australia.

This team is part of the broader APAC Energy & Power group that provides comprehensive solutions in the power sector encompassing Transmission & Distribution, Power Generation, New Energy, and Advisory and Project Solutions. With a wide array of international client connections, longstanding industry partnerships, and a dedicated management team passionate about Jacobs' offerings to the market, we work closely with major players in the energy sector, ensuring a smooth transition to a sustainable future.

Here's what you'll need:

We're on the lookout for a Principal Power Systems Engineer to join our team. At Jacobs, you will utilize Power System modeling software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, and PowerFactory to conduct various network planning studies aimed at assisting network owners in shaping the future electricity network. You will engage with the Jacobs Energy & Power Group on interdisciplinary projects in Australia, New Zealand, as well as globally in the UK, Europe, US, and Asia.

  • Demonstrate a profound understanding of power systems, including planning studies for different renewable energy sources.
  • Lead the development and execution of client projects, focusing on power system analysis, network connections, regulatory requirements application, network planning, and compliance, as well as reliability analysis.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration, with the ability to contribute to the technical direction of proposal development.
  • Lead studies using power system software packages like PSCAD, PSS/E, or PowerFactory, with a bonus for proficiency in Python. Training in the required software will be provided.
  • Handle power system challenges and planning studies for various renewable energy sources.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of client projects, prioritizing power system analysis, network connections, regulatory requirements application, network planning, and compliance, as well as reliability analysis.
  • Provide technical guidance in Sales, actively engage with Clients, and identify business development opportunities.
  • Support the Technical Director in shaping the technical practice's direction based on future-focused insights, thought leadership, and Jacobs' vision.
  • Effective communicator and collaborator, with the capability to articulate the technical direction of proposal development.
  • Offer mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, contributing to Jacobs' professional development framework.
