The Metropolitan South Region is seeking social workers with a passion for providing professional support and information to enhance student learning through partnerships with students, parents, carers, and school communities. Social workers in this region will work across various school sites as specialist members of multidisciplinary teams, offering services such as counseling, assessment, and intervention focused on students' mental health and well-being. This role also involves contributing to program development, implementation, and evaluation to help students engage and participate effectively in school.

We are particularly interested in social workers who want to work in Special Schools and Primary Schools.

Social Workers in the Student Wellbeing Package role will:

  • Utilize professional knowledge to deliver tailored therapeutic interventions for students' concerns such as mental health issues, personal relationships, trauma, and crisis
  • Provide support and safety plans for students with self-harm tendencies or at risk of suicide
  • Identify students needing additional mental health support beyond the school
  • Refer students to external agencies for extra mental health support
  • Support students following critical incidents or emergencies
  • Collaborate with wellbeing and school staff to implement strategies for student well-being
  • Conduct individual and group counseling and therapeutic interventions

What You Can Expect:

  • Flexible full-time and part-time options
  • 12.5% superannuation
  • Annual leave loading (17.5%)
  • 36 1⁄4 hours per week
