This Role As the Head of Retail Media, you will utilize your deep expertise in retail and marketplaces to lead us through steering all retail media and executing biddable retail media endeavors. You will define strategy, direct cross-channel cooperation, and guarantee seamless integration of retail media into comprehensive commerce plans for our clients.

Job Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership

  • Develop solid partnerships with key eGrocery (e.g., Woolworths, Coles, Chemist Warehouse) and Pureplay (e.g., Amazon) platforms, aligning with GroupM's Commerce objectives and business strategy.
  • Enhance robust technical capability by managing essential tech partners like Criteo, Pacvue, Citrus, and exclusive platforms.
  • Act as the internal subject matter expert on Retail Media, advising and coaching other leaders across GroupM.
  • Establish priorities, goals, and budgets, adapting global playbooks and standards into actionable local strategies.
  • Stimulate internal training on platform updates, best practices, and testing strategies, positioning GroupM as a pioneer in retail media and empowering teams to provide maximum value.
  • Collaborate with planning and purchasing teams to craft comprehensive playbooks outlining the integration of non-digital and direct OI (offline integration) retail media formats into overall client campaigns. This may entail outlining strategic use cases, audience targeting methods, and measurement approaches for each format.
  • Educate agency teams on the value proposition and top practices for utilizing non-digital and direct OI retail media formats, enabling them to confidently propose and implement integrated campaigns for clients.

Client Success

  • Promote the adoption of GroupM Commerce across existing and new business ventures.
  • Collaborate closely with agency teams to implement first-rate campaigns aligned with client goals.
  • Consult with agencies and clients, translating business requirements into actionable retail media strategies.
  • Drive performance across eGrocery and Pureplay accounts, ensuring harmony with broader commerce strategies.
  • Design measurement frameworks for non-digital and direct OI formats, considering elements like lift studies, in-store traffic data, and promotional code tracking, to showcase campaign efficiency and client ROI.

Operational Excellence

  • Create and refine internal tools, procedures, and reporting dashboards to streamline retail media operations, improve performance tracking, and enable data-driven decision-making. Actively enhance processes for improved collaboration within GroupM Commerce and with our clients.
  • Formulate frameworks, case studies, and training resources to consistently elevate biddable commerce media buying.
  • Cultivate solid relationships with priority Commerce collaborators.
  • Proactively discover and assess emerging platform capabilities, test new ad offerings, and negotiate beneficial collaborations to uphold our competitive advantage.
  • Work with planning and buying teams to determine optimum budget allocation across online and offline retail media channels, guaranteeing a cohesive and impactful strategy aligned with client objectives.
  • Develop operational plans, frameworks, and SOPs for managing biddable Retail Media execution efficiently and as a market leader.
  • Take charge of all Retail Media execution resources ensuring training, playbooks, and supervision for teams to meet client aims.

Commercial

  • Ensure a strategic business plan for Retail Media is tailored and demonstrates growth in key areas.
  • Report on business growth objectives, collaborating closely with the client and market leads to achieve them.
  • Assume responsibility for cultivating, forecasting, and delivering group Retail Media solutions.

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, or a related discipline.
  • Over 10 years of experience in biddable performance media execution, with a strong preference for retail media execution.
  • Specialized experience in Retail Media, eGrocery, Marketplaces, and Pureplay.
  • History of leading a team of direct reports.
  • Proficiency across the Microsoft Office Suite, encompassing Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Proven track record of executing successful commerce campaigns achieving business goals.
  • Deep comprehension of retail commercial aspects like profit margin, inventory levels, forecasting, and demand planning to guide media decisions.
  • Thorough understanding of how different media channels work together and the placement of retail media within the broader ecosystem.
  • Experience with retail bid management tools such as Pacvue or Skai.
  • Competence in campaign management and optimization across various retail platforms (Amazon, Instacart, Walmart, Target, Kroger, Criteo, Google, Meta, etc.).
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
