Recent fleet enhancements, including two converted A330 freighters, significantly boost our capacity, allowing us to transport up to 50 tonnes of freight per flight.

By the end of this year, our fleet will expand to seven A321s, further augmenting our operational capabilities.

As we phase out our B737 and B767 fleets this year as part of our ongoing modernisation efforts, Qantas Freight remains steadfast in delivering efficient, reliable, and cost-effective freight solutions to our clientele, underscoring our commitment to innovation and growth in the industry.

About the Position


As the A321 Training Manager, you play a pivotal role in Qantas Freight (EFA)'s operational success, especially with the imminent addition of three A321 aircraft by year's end, expanding our fleet to a total of seven.

Your primary responsibility is to lead and manage training and checking activities for the Airbus A321, contributing directly to the efficiency and safety of our operations.


You'll be instrumental in developing and implementing training programs and policies, ensuring adherence to standards for line operations, endorsements, recurrent training, remedial training, and re-familiarisation programs across our A321 fleet.

Collaboration is key in this role, as you'll work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure our training programs align with service level agreements (SLAs) and regulatory requirements.


Additionally, you will coordinate with rostering/crewing to ensure the timely scheduling and execution of all training and checking activities, maintaining the continued validity of our operations.

You'll also develop, deliver, and maintain all pilot license-related training programs, ensuring our pilots remain up-to-date and compliant.


Monitoring FOQA data information will be part of your responsibilities, where you'll analyse trends and develop procedures or training sequences in response to data insights for individual fleet improvement.

Moreover, you'll maintain a register of and review type courseware as defined in the Training and Checking Manual (TACM), ensuring that our training materials are current and effective in meeting our operational needs.

With all relevant fleet type Trainers reporting to you, you'll have a comprehensive view of and control over the entire training operation, enabling you to drive performance and excellence throughout the training process.

As the A321 Training Manager with Qantas Freight (EFA), you'll have:

  • A320/1 Type Rating on CASA licence
  • Experience as Check and Training pilot on Airbus FlybyWire aircraft
  • Proven management experience in a Check and Training Pilot capacity
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated people leadership capability
  • Indepth knowledge of aviation regulations and standards pertaining to Airbus flybywire aircraft

Based in Melbourne, the A321 Training Manager role offers a balanced mix of flying and managerial duties, with approximately a 50/50 split.

Our domestic flight operations run exclusively on weekdays, however, weekend training activities may occur to support fleet expansion. Emphasising work-life balance, this position thrives within our close-knit team environment, where collaboration and support are integral.
