Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist

Provide specialist paediatric cardiology care to both inpatient and ambulatory patients within the Paediatric Department of the Royal Darwin Hospital, regional hospitals and remote communities; and to contribute to post graduate education at Royal Darwin Hospital, including the supervision of paediatric trainees.
- Provide specialist paediatric cardiology care of infants, children and young adults admitted at the Royal Darwin Hospital including afterhours cover.
- Conduct regular paediatric cardiology outpatient sessions at the Royal Darwin Hospital and in remote communities.
- Supervise and report on inpatient and outpatient echocardiograms, 24-hour Halter monitors ECG, Stress test and pacemaker checks.
- Provide specialist paediatric cardiology advice to colleagues in geographically isolated centres in the NT.
- Participate in continuous medical education including undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, professional development, peer review, research, and quality improvement activities.
- Collaborate with other medical, nursing, and allied health colleagues to review and revise policies, procedures and guidelines in line with national and international recommendations.
- Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
- Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
- Registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP); Paediatric Cardiology.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact positively in a team and in a cross-cultural work environment.
- Flexibility; an ability to work in a complex and unpredictable environment.
- A demonstrated interest in and a commitment to improving Indigenous health and an understanding of rheumatic heart disease.
- Evidence of commitment to continuing education, teaching, research and quality improvement activities.
