The Opportunity
Welcome to Newport Alstom The X’trapolis 2.0 team is excited to release for the first time, our Test and Commissioning Site Manager to the market and invite applications from Operational or Site Managers who are natural problem solvers to apply. 
With our first train due to be delivered to Newport later in 2024, this role’s focus is split initially to set up the site in collaboration with our franchisee then once operational, transition to the ongoing management of the testing team and T&C activities at site.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Be accountable to the site set up and operational planning of the Newport facility, working closely with the Franchisee to ensure the site meets relevant project, safety, operating, physical and optimisation standards
  • Support the development and implementation of all relevant safety and operational documentation, procedures and processes
  • Build and foster ongoing, effective and open relationship with key stakeholders, customers, internal teams and other projects
  • Recruit and develop the Newport T&C Team 
  • Undertake all site management duties, empowering and supporting team members to build a safety first, accountable and engaged workforce and culture 
  • Manage the testing activities after initial site set up is completed and take ownership for the delivery of testing milestones in line with contractual obligations

 

Key attributes and skills

  • A natural problem solver and people leader – you will regard yourself as ‘unflappable’ and be looking to build and develop a team that you can nurture to their greatest potential
  • A proven operational or site manager of a rail/automotive/manufacturing or similar facility that includes dynamic or static testing activities 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of developing and implementing critical safety and operational plans and documents
  • A confident collaborator with key stakeholders with excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
