A position for a 12 month Advanced Colorectal Fellowship will be available starting August 2024 for trainees who are at the end of their surgical training in the UK (ST7/8) and have FRCS (Gen Surg). This fellowship will be based at Western Health, the largest colorectal cancer unit in Melbourne, Victoria. 

We currently have 6 specialist colorectal consultants at Western Health. This is a very collegiate colorectal unit and we welcome Fellows to bring over their respective family. In 2023, the current colorectal fellow has completed 45 TME rectal resections and 125 other colorectal resectional cases as the primary operator.
 
This fellowship position will provide the following surgical experience-

Advanced Laparoscopic Colorectal and Robotic surgical experience. Advanced gynae-oncology surgical experience. Advanced endometriosis colorectal management at the Joan Kirner Womenâs hospital Advanced IBD surgical management. Endoscopy Pelvic floor surgical management including developing a skill set of anorectal physiology assessment and endoanal ultrasound Emergency colorectal and general surgery on call experience Experience in Surgical Simulation development 

 In addition, the colorectal academic department is one of the largest colorectal research departments in Melbourne. Numerous opportunities to successfully complete research projects during this fellowship will also be strongly supported.
