Bechtel Energy has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Surveyor to join our Pluto Train 2 project, based in Karratha and working FIFO.

Pluto Train 2 is the expansion of a second LNG train at the existing Pluto LNG onshore facility. Woodside is Australia's leading natural gas producer, and Bechtel is excited to be working with this key customer to help meet the increasing global demand for LNG as a transitional energy source.

About the role:

Assigned to the Construction organization as a Survey Engineer, you will be responsible for providing field and office support as required to the construction survey team.

You will be interpreting design drawings and specifications to determine associated commodities and equipment locations, and providing direction and supervision to your assigned field survey team in support of the civil, structural, mechanical, and piping installations in the work area.

 

Ideally you will have an Engineering/Technical degree and experience in heavy construction/industrial surveying, with modern instruments and software, with at least 1 years’ supervisorial experience.  Significant experience (in lieu of a degree) may be considered with at least 2 years’ supervisorial experience.

 

Your experience will include:

  • earthwork, excavation, concrete, structural steel, mechanical, and piping, etc. installation layout and verification.
  • knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes.
  • successful project completion with little to zero rework.
  • knowledge of supervisory functions relating to industrial surveying field & office activities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with:
    • Survey CAD software, including generation of Digital Terrain Models (DTM) and volumes computations.
    • Robotic Total Stations, Digital Levels & GNSS survey systems.
    • Trimble survey equipment and Access field software.
    • Intermediate level use of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Additional Information:

This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.).

The Pluto Train 2 Project is a Major Hazard Facility meaning this is a non-smoking site and no tobacco products – i.e. cigarettes, vapes, lighters, tobacco - are permitted to be brought to the site.

This position is available to both local and non-local personnel. For non-locals (FIFO/DIDO), the working roster is 3/1.
