The Role

Reporting to the Associate Director, Specialised Transaction Management (STM), this role is accountable for managing the day to day activities to support the execution and operation of bespoke specialised transactions originated by the Corporate Trustee business within Corporate and Institutional Bank. Via NAB's licensed corporate trustee subsidiary, we act as trustee, custodian or escrow agent for a broad suite of transactions, comprising infrastructure trust, reinsurance trusts, merger and acquisition escrow requirements, custody and structured funding opportunities.

This role is critical in ensuring an efficient and effective best practice service delivery of transaction execution, support and oversight to NAB's business partners and ensuring that transaction and regulatory obligations are performed with efficiency and accuracy and in accordance with the transaction documentation, legislation, policies and procedures.

A typical day will include:

Support the Associate Director in the pre-execution phase of transactions, understanding customer requirements, and liaising with internal (and external) stakeholders to ensure all transaction obligations and risks are understood, and relevant advice is sought. Support the management and delivery major projects. Working with Associate Directors and Associates on the ongoing management of portfolio transactions through reviewing instructions (for example, payment/trade instructions), reconciliation, tax calculations, invoicing and deliverables prepared by Associates. Establish a thorough understanding of legal, regulatory, and operational requirements of the transactions. Maintaining the accuracy of the Transaction Events Diaries to ensure that all transaction-related covenants and obligations are actioned in accordance with transaction documentation by their respective deadlines. Engage with external services providers (audit, legal counsel, tax) as required. Support the preparation of various quarterly board reports to the Corporate Trust Board. Maintain key relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Performing annual transaction reviews. Seek out and implement process improvements. Ongoing review and challenge of internal controls.
About You

To be considered for this role you will be an enthusiastic, experienced, and skilled financial services/banking practitioner with a tertiary level accounting/finance qualification. Financial services experience would be highly beneficial, and a CA/CPA qualification would also be favourably regarded. You will be able to demonstrate sound technical knowledge , confidence to challenge the status quo and possess sound commercial acumen. Project management experience and skills will also be held in high regard to support the transition and delivery of a major milestone.

The successful candidate will possess advanced analytical aptitude and strong organisational skills, demonstrating the ability to prioritise competing obligations. You will combine attention to detail with a capacity to 'see the big picture'. This is a team orientated environment and the successful applicant will have a 'can do' attitude and willingness to support their colleagues in a positive manner. Whilst the role does not formally have direct reports, you will be expected to support the high level of execution and operational discipline expected by providing constructive feedback to nurture and develop more junior staff.
