This role is a 12 month fixed term leave cover contract - salary - no day rates.

The Australian Defence Force Satellite Operation Centre provides support services to the ADF in a lot of their home and abroad activities including operating in high risk and high conflict areas across the world.

We are now recruiting for a Network Engineer to join our ADFSOC team in Canberra.

Your experience may include certifications and professional experience in understanding Digital Communication Techniques, Satellite Transmission, Microwave and RF principles, modulation and inter-modulation, network connectivity and antenna principles.

You don’t need to cover all of those topics, but simply have basic fundamental knowledge and experience about satellite operations. Our teams are built of diverse specialists who have acquired new knowledge in Optus, so we will provide a level of educating/training in becoming up to date with our software and infrastructure packages.

You would come from a background which would see you already hold an active, or idle, NV1.

Your day in Satellite

• Conduct day-to-day surveillance, analysis, control and operation of the Defence wideband and narrowband operations, Defence Ground Systems locally and offshore and various Defence Comms network systems
• Manage all priority tasks that come in directly from ADF personnel and by your Optus Group Leader
• Accurate reporting on your activities which will be shared with ADF and Optus stakeholders
• Function as a specialist/adviser on all matters and best course of action for the ADF
• Learning our new Software package and up skilling your professional and technical capabilities
