As the Head of Detect and Respond you will lead FCTG's global cyber incident response efforts. In this pivotal cybersecurity role, you will oversee the creation, execution, and management of strategies, processes, and technologies to effectively detect and respond to cyber threats.  Ensuring that all employees are trained and prepared to meet their cybersecurity duties, and that the organisation has robust controls and procedures to swiftly identify and address cyber incidents.

Day in the life:

 

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership in developing and implementing effective detection and response strategies
  • Lead and coordinate incident investigations, working closely with relevant stakeholders
  • Stay informed about relevant cybersecurity laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers to ensure the effectiveness of outsourced cybersecurity services and solutions
  • Prepare and present regular reports on the organization's incident response activities to senior management and other stakeholders
  • Develop and deliver training programs and awareness campaigns to educate employees about the importance of incident reporting and the proper procedures for responding to incidents
  • Establish relationships with external partners, as required to facilitate collaboration and information exchange during cyber incidents
  • Maintain a comprehensive security monitoring strategy to detect potential security incidents
  • Identify, deploy, and manage security monitoring tools and technologies
  • Integrate threat intelligence feeds and sources to enhance the FCTG ability to detect emerging threats
  • Proactively search for signs of hidden threats, persistent adversaries, or suspicious activities within the organization's environment through threat hunting exercises and proactive security analytics
  • Lead efforts to contain the spread of a security incident, isolate affected systems, and minimize further damage or unauthorised access
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external communication during the incident
  • Oversee the preservation of digital evidence and chain of custody procedures
  • Oversee the development of remediation plans to restore affected systems to a secure state
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance incident response processes, tools, and training programs

 

You'll be perfect for the role if you have:

 

  • 8+ years in cybersecurity, specialising in incident detection and response
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, or a related field
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM are highly desirable
  • Proven leadership in managing and motivating teams
  • Experience in SOC operations and tools like SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, and threat intelligence platforms
  • Proficient in network security concepts and protocols
  • Skilled in leveraging threat intelligence to mitigate threats
  • Expertise in incident detection and response, digital forensics, and malware analysis
  • Familiar with endpoint security and cloud security principles
  • Knowledge of security architecture and secure development practices
  • Ability to anticipate threats and plan incident response
