Maroondah City Council has an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced and professional individual to join our Finance Team.Reporting to the Management Accounting and Payroll Coordinator you will contribute to Council’s overall financial sustainability and the achievement of our community’s long-term vision.

• Maintain a register of capital grants and provide monthly reporting/analysis for project managers in line with the requirements of Australian Accounting Standards.
• Provide specialist financial expertise as a member of tender evaluation panels for major Council contracts.
• The preparation and monitoring of Council’s 10-year capital expenditure program, in consultation with key stakeholders.
• Provide input to Council’s Long-Term Financial Strategy in respect of the 10-year capital works program; and
• Provision of a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers.

• Proficiency using computers with intermediate level Excel and Word and basic level PowerPoint skills and demonstrated ability using mainframe based financial software
• High level interpersonal and communication skills with a strong focus on internal customer support and service
• Tertiary qualifications in accounting and/or Finance equivalent are essential, qualification as a Chartered Accountant or Certified Practising Accountant is desirable
• Demonstrated experience in a finance environment
• Ability to identify, investigate, analyse and resolve issues or problems with persistence, timeliness and innovation
• Ability to work as part of a team in achievement of team and organisational goals and objectives
