Business Intelligence Analyst

Randstad are currently working with a Queensland Government Department to find an experienced Business Intelligence Analyst for an initial 6 Month Contract with potential of extension.

Key Responsibilities:

⪠Undertake ongoing development, maintenance, and enhancement activities to optimise business intelligence systems and processes, including database design, Extract Transform and Load (ETL) and reporting to ensure high-quality business critical information is readily available to support operational decision making.
⪠Develop business intelligence tools including visualisations, dashboards, and suites of standard reports to support timely operational decision making.
⪠Actively participate in the identification and management of risks and issues regarding business intelligence solutions.
⪠Undertake troubleshooting and liaise with ICT providers to ensure timely and appropriate remedial action of issues related to business intelligence solutions.
⪠Design, develop and deploy Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) cubes incorporating various data sources to enable consistent and timely access to self-service operational activity reporting.
⪠Design, develop, test, and release complex data extracts from large datasets using Structured Query Language (SQL) within Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database technologies.
⪠Using a high-level knowledge of operations and business, analyse, interpret and transform complex data extracts into meaningful information, and present it in a professional manner to support operational performance reporting and decision making.
⪠Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the continuous availability of business intelligence systems and operational performance reporting to support decision making.
⪠Mentor and coach staff at all levels to increase their knowledge and use of business intelligence solutions as they are developed and implemented within the department.
⪠Develop and maintain business intelligence and technical documentation including architectural diagrams, design documents, project quality plans, process mapping, technical specifications, report specifications and data dictionaries.
The ideal candidate for this role will possess:

⪠Demonstrated high level knowledge and experience in the effective operation of a multi-tier business intelligence platform using enterprise level tools, including Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server Relational Database Management Systems (or similar).
⪠Demonstrated high level ability to develop, coordinate and implement complex data design, collection, interpretation, analysis and practical reporting solutions using business intelligence systems.
⪠Experience with SQL, T/SQL, PL/SQL, Cognos Transformer and Framework Manager is highly desirable.
⪠Experience with PowerBI or similar is highly desirable.
⪠Knowledge and experience in relational and dimensional data modelling methodologies is highly desirable.
⪠Experience in scripting languages (e.g. Python) is highly desirable.
