THE POSITION

  • Drive category management execution on focused spend areas within the protein category.
  • Drive execution of strategic commodity plans with a high focus on strategic sourcing.
  • Maintain relationships with strategic suppliers with the aim to be a first point of call for new innovative products and specials.
  • Oversee the day-to-day sourcing of new items and specials sourcing to ensure they are in alignment with overall category strategy.
  • Improve local performance via supplier consolidation, negotiating commercial supplier arrangements and developing strategic partnerships.
  • Drive operational excellence in the supplier base, managing KPI’s and performance level initiatives.
  • Maintain relationships with strategic suppliers with the aim to be a first point of call for new innovative products and spot buys. 
  • Provide leadership and innovation from a sourcing perspective towards environmental management and sustainability programs. Review supplier offerings for innovative products to reduce costs.
  • Communicate market trends, provide proactive insights and changes in product availability to our clients.
  • Support the delivery of a range of products/services maximising business profitability and service needs considering both life-cycle and associated costs.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the relationship between all pricing levels versus market to make business pricing recommendations.

 

THE PERSON

  • 2-3 Years experience in a procurement function.
  • Relevant completed or partial tertiary qualification Economics/Business/Commerce, CIPS, IFPSM or AAPCM qualification or equivalent is highly regarded.
  • Ability to negotiate skilfully with both internal and external stakeholders to influence strategy and negotiate costs.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and prioritise work to meet all deadlines.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate/excellent level of MS Office including advanced excel skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills – demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a positive relationship with business stakeholders.
  • Experience in contract management and sourcing and / or formal procurement environment of at least 5 years.
