Randstad Darwin is currently looking for a Level 4 Ranger - Local Darwin Work for $50.15 per hour. You will be
responsible for the promotion, education and enforcement of a range of services and programs that
contribute to the delivery of the Community Plan including:

⢠Animal management
⢠Community safety
⢠Management of legislative and by-law breaches
⢠Contractor management
⢠Sustainable and strategic project delivery

Job Description:
  • Enforce all relevant by-laws, legislation and policies including dog containment and impounding, the transfer of dogs for euthanising or veterinarian treatment, parking control, public places patrols and the issuing of infringement notices.
  • Respond to complaints received from members of the public and other stakeholders
  • Complete a range of administrative work associated with the role, such as maintaining registers or producing correspondence on behalf of Council.
  • Conduct investigations, interviews and provide stakeholders with progress reports and outcomes.
  • Organise contractors to carry out work needed as a result of by-law breaches.
  • Assist in the preparation of prosecution briefs in line with the relevant legislation and Council policy and provide evidence in court as an Authorised Officer of Council.
  • Participate in community education activities relating to by-laws and other related urban management matters.
  • Carry out on-call and out of hourâs duties as rostered or as required.
  • Responsible and accountable for making and keeping records of work-related activities.What we are looking for:

    • Certificate III in Local Governance or an associated field is desirable.
    • Completion of Year 12 Secondary School education and minimum of four years practical experience in a similar role.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to liaise with a wide cross section of people and produce professional written correspondence.
    • Demonstrated experience in negotiation, assessment and problem solving to efficiently and appropriately resolve complex and sensitive issues.
    • Ability to interpret, adhere to, follow, and regulate relevant Northern Territory Government and Councillegislation and policies.
    • Competent animal handling skills and physical ability to safely capture, lift and handle large dogs andequipment, in some cases under difficult conditions.
    • Sound administrative skills and competency in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
    • Ability to work a rotating roster outside of ordinary hours including weekend and after-hours work.
    • Experience working in a cross-cultural environment, especially with Indigenous communities.
    • A positive attitude and commitment to deliver quality customer service.
    • A clear understanding of the role that Work, Health and Safety plays within the workplace coupled with a willingness to commit and adhere to Work, Health and Safety practices and policies.
